Sometimes you may need to update old file or replace it with the new one while uploading. If during an upload, Pure FTP renames your files file.1 and file.2, do the following:
1. Edit the Pure FTP configuration file: /etc/pure-ftpd.conf with the command # vi /etc/pure-ftpd.conf
2. Modify value of the variable AutoRename by changing the value from yes to no.
3. Restart your FTP service by entering the following command: # /etc/init.d/pure-ftpd restart
